The ideation process considered the transition between transportation mode and in-use mode for the Bluetooth speaker, exploring how physical interactions could influence the design.
The design samples showcase the external body design of the speaker alongside internal sleeves engineered to securely hold its components. Each speaker design focuses on exploring the seamless transformation of the product between its transport and use modes.

The prototyping process involved multiple iterations to integrate speaker components into two distinct enclosures effectively. One of the major challenges was engineering a solution to route the wiring through a hinge mechanism, similar to the functionality found in laptops. This required experimentation and innovative problem-solving.

The design of the chassis ensured nothing was glued down for ease of repair, and used both screws and built-in pins to ensure nothing would shift or vibrate during use.
A tight Eco-TPU sleeve around battery for easier replacement and interior vibration dampening. The bass reflex port travels past the battery to the back opening of the speaker, behind the RIMOWA branded grille.

Soundcase references the iconic aluminum materiality of Rimowa for its outer shell, offering a sense of durability and sophistication. In contrast, the audio components feature sleek black finishes, creating a bold visual and functional distinction.
